Indie rocker Mac DeMarco and everyone’s favorite psychedelic septet The Flaming Lips have recently announced they’ll co-headline a string of dates starting in September. Both artists had mutually exclusive preexisting summer tours, with these team-ups being a sweet addition, they’re set to run from September 17th in St. Paul, Minnesota until the 5th of October in Phoenix, Arizona.
The Flaming Lips put out the glitzy and colorful music video for ‘There Should Be Unicorns’ at the beginning of March, which now leaves us all wondering, were Wayne and crew eagerly awaiting those limited edition unicorn frappuccinos at Starbucks? Their fourteenth album, ‘Oczy Mlody’, featuring collaborations with Miley Cyrus and Reggie Watts, was released January 13th of this year. The experimental rockers are set to play the Glastonbury Festival on the 23rd of June.
DeMarco meanwhile is on the lookout for an assistant with dank meme experience. The joblisting is for an assistant position at the Mac DeMarco Fan Club and experience with Mailchimp, WordPress, and iMovie are requirements along with the humorous request of the applicants’ dankest Mac DeMarco meme being sent in with a cover letter. ‘This Old Dog’, his fourth full-length, released May 5th via Captured Tracks, but has already been leaked online much to the uncaring of DeMarco. During his set at Coachella he was quoted as saying prior to playing ‘On The Level’: “We’re gonna play a song that we’ve only played twice before. It’s a new song that came out a couple days ago, but you know what? The album leaked yesterday, so I don’t give a shit anymore! Download it! PirateBay, torrents.to, SoulSeek, Napster, LimeWire, Kazaa… Just get it. Just get it.”
