The most talked about festival in music, Glastonbury, has finally announced their lineup for this summer’s weekend of tunes. While we’re still waiting on some surprise additions that we’ll hear about in the coming weeks, we have the main list of artists to sink our teeth into. As already announced Radiohead, Foo Fighters, and Ed Sheeran shall be headlining, with Radiohead last having headlined back in 2003 around the release of ‘Hail To The Thief’. This is a first time for both Ed Sheeran and the Foo Fighters, the latter of whom were forced to cancel their 2015 headlining slot after frontman Dave Grohl injured his leg after a fall off stage at a performance in Sweden. Grime collective Boy Better Know will be headlining the Other Stage on one of the nights, while grime artists Skepta (a founder of BBK), Kano, Wiley and Stormzy will also be performing during the weekend.
Co-organiser, Emily Eavis, stated via NME: “Stormzy, Skepta, Boy Better Know – it’s going to be great for grime.” Adding, “Grime has entered our lives in such a big way and it’s brilliant that we’re representing that as much as possible.” Pop diva, Katy Perry will also be performing, we should be expecting new material from her upcoming fifth album to get it’s first play at the festival after the release of her Skip Marley featuring single ‘Chained To The Rhythm’. Art pop queen Lorde’s followup to 2013’s epic debut ‘Pure Heroine’, entitled ‘Melodrama’, will be released less than a week before Glastonbury starts, so we can expect to hear more than new smash ‘Green Light’ along with her older hits. Barry Gibb, Chic, Kris Kristofferson and The Jacksons are among the classic artists to be performing the mud-filled weekend. Some other artists of interest on the lineup include: The National, Alt-J, Haim, Father John Misty, The Flaming Lips, Warpaint, The Courteeners, Ride, Kaiser Chiefs, Shaggy, Birdy and Blossoms. You can find the full lineup (as of now) and festival performers Alt-J’s latest single ‘In Cold Blood’ to get you in a full-on Glasto mood below.
Glastonbury 2017 will be held at Worthy Farm in Somerset, England from June 21st-25th.
