American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and short-film maker Richard Swift has passed away at the age of 41. Devastating news for the founder, owner, and recording engineer of the recording studio National Freedom (has hosted artists such as The Shins, Damien Jurado, The Mynabirds, Foxygen, Jessie Baylin and Laetitia Sadier of Stereolab. He released 4 solo albums as Richard Swift (plus his last one a collaborative cover album with Damien Jurado), one as Onasis , and also toured and performed with The Black Keys as their bassist in 2014. He was also a former member of seminal indie bands The Shins (2011-2016) & The Arcs (on drums). He also collaborated with alternative rock band Starflyer 59.
