Critically acclaimed post-punk/new wave band The The are releasing a single, ‘You Can’t Stop What’s Coming‘, via Cinéola for Record Store Day 2017. The 7” is a UK only release, so don’t expect to find it in an indie record shop in the US, and is limited to a mere 2000 copies. Celestial guitar idol Johnny Marr makes his The The return on this single, having last been featured on a The The release in 1992 with the LP ‘Dusk‘.

Making up The The is Matt Johnson, the leader and vocalist, Zeke Manyika (‘Soul Mining‘, ‘Infected‘) on percussion, and James Eller of ‘Mind Bomb‘ and ‘Dusk‘ on bass; while the track also featured contributions from artists Meja Kullersten on backing vocals, drummer Chris Whitten (Johnny Cash, The Waterboys), and on the keyboard Iain Berryman of Florence & The Machine.

Remind yourself of The The with the track that Matt Johnson considers to likely be the best he’s written, ‘Heartland‘, down below. Record Store Day is on April 22.
