Why Bonnie, the New York-based project of Blair Howerton, returns with their new single and video, Dotted Line. Marking their first release since the acclaimed 2022 album 90 in November, the track ventures into new sonic territory. While the band’s nostalgic Americana sound, compared to Waxahatchee and Wednesday, remains, Dotted Line prominently features pop and rock influences. Written during a period of financial strain, Howerton reflects on the pressures of capitalism and unattainable markers of success. The song’s chorus, with its hypnotic beat, serves as a defiant rallying cry against societal expectations. Co-directed by Howerton and Grace Pendleton, the video offers a playful critique of conforming to “the man”.
