The indie rock virtuoso, underlay, also known as Cody Brougham, spanning his roots from Melbourne to Newcastle and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, unveils his latest single, a certified indie rock banger, offering a glimpse into the EP—a contagious, catchy masterpiece that lays the groundwork for an upcoming sonic journey.
Of the track, Cody says, “I wrote this song about meeting my partner and the first stages of us knowing each other. We’d both gotten out of pretty serious relationships and it was my first time “dating”, and both of us were trying to keep things casual but knowing full well that we weren’t those types of people. I wanted to write about that Mexican standoff kind of feeling of both of us not wanting to be the first person to crack and admit how we really felt.”
