Los Angeles singer-songwriter Lily Kershaw recently announced her upcoming, long-awaited third album Pain & More, out September 13th, in the best possible way. Poem Song is a powerful folk ballad written specifically for this album during a depressive flare-up. It originally came from a nine-minute stream-of-consciousness voice memo she recorded to lift herself out of the depressive state. The lyrics are both gutting and relatable: “Maybe it’s simple / Maybe it’s quiet / Maybe your soft self-acceptance / Is a rebellious riot.”
With powerful vocals, lyrics we can all connect to in one way or another, and a timeless melody, this song is set to resonate deeply with listeners.
