What inspired you to first start making music? And how did you come to be in your current incarnation? Or if you prefer, a brief bio about you.
The eldest of my brothers, Jimmy is 22 and started writing music in high school; I began to appreciate his work in my journey through my freshmen year of high school, I have used those songs and fragments for my own inspiration and started writing my own music. I also have general interest in The Beatles and the Beach Boys.
The Pierce Project started with the 4 of us trying to write and finish a full album in a single day. It was a blast and we wanted to write and record more together.
Provide us with some info about your latest release…
I’m Not The One is the latest single as I am writing this, and it is definitely a contrast to my previous singles Time is Absurd and I Had a Girl. I have other songs in store that will hopefully bring something else to the table.
Which ones would you consider your main influences both music-wise & non-music-wise?
Music-wise my interests are, The Beatles, Beach Boys, Kinks, Simon & Garfunkel, and other popular music bands from the 60’s and 70’s. Non-music-wise, I’m a basketball player and fan, hopefully I can use that interest for the best.
In what way does your sound differ from the rest genre-related artists/bands and why should we listen to your music? In other words, how would you describe your sound?
I’m not sure how I would classify my sound as I am very new to writing music and playing guitar. Hopefully I will expand my musical interests and discover what sound my music best mimics.
The Pierce Project has 4 unique writers and each of us are influenced differently so none of our music is cookie cutter. We mash up a lot of different sounds.
Please name your 3 desert islands albums, movies & books…
Bridge Over Troubled Water, Pet Sounds, and Funeral.
As for movies and books, eh the hell with them, bring me 3 comedies and 3 books that will hopefully give me knowledge to survive on this island.
Do you prefer studio or performing live and why?
I prefer studio although I would love to perform live when my bros and I practice more.
Is there any funny-unique story you would like to share with us, always in relation to your music ‘career’?
Initially Time is Absurd was going to have multiple key changes that my older brothers and I were determined to make work. The song was sounding awful so I got rid of the key changes and immediately we wanted to make it a single.
We are family so we are hard on each other for the decisions around instruments and mixing, but the writer has final say for the song.
Which track of your own would you point out as the most unique and why?
Well the song is not released yet but it will be titled I Compared It to Avitar and it is about as 50’s and 60’s as a song on the album gets, but its melody is very different and unique from any other melody on the album.
Jimmy’s Cinderella is very different for us also.
Would you like to share with our readers your future plans?
My goal is to help bring this album together as best as I can, and get started writing a personal album to capture all the songs that won’t make The Pierce Project.
Free question!!! (Ask yourself a question) you wish to answer and haven’t been given the opportunity…
Will I answer this?
Yes, I believe answering questions is important.
