What inspired you to first start making music? And how did you come to be in your current incarnation? Or if you prefer, a brief bio about you.
I first started to write music as a child. It was a way to vent and express myself. Since then it has only grown. After taking a hiatus I decided to fully immerse myself back into music and I feel my sound and writing have grown.
Provide us with some info about your latest release…
My latest release is Dodo II: Say Less which came out May 10th on all streaming platforms. It took about a year to cultivate and I feel it is my best work to date. You really get into my mind and emotions and see things from my perspective. I feel there i something many people can relate to on this record.
Which ones would you consider your main influences both music-wise & non-music-wise?
My main influences musically would have to be Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Timbaland and Kanye West. Through studying their work I learned about lyricism and true beat making.
In what way does your sound differ from the rest genre-related artists/bands and why should we listen to your music? In other words, how would you describe your sound?
My sound is vast and has different styles to it. I try to switch it up alot to not be monotonous about my music. It isn’t your typical mumble and trap rap it is more deep and emotional than your average. More soothing and calm.
Please name your 3 desert islands albums, movies & books…
Timbalands Shock Value, Jay-Z Reasonable Doubt and House of Balloons by The Weeknd. To me these albums are classic material.
Do you prefer studio or performing live and why?
I prefer the studio because it’s a place you’re trying to piece this puzzle together. Every sound and every lyric is a piece you’re trying to put together to make this masterpiece.
Is there any funny-unique story you would like to share with us, always in relation to your music ‘career’?
I can’t really think of anything. I feel that it’s funny no matter what you do musically there is always someone who will belittle what you’re doing musically. It seems they just get off on saying the most negative things they can think of.
Which track of your own would you point out as the most unique and why?
I have a song called Oracion on my first release Dodo that I think is pretty defining. On there I’m talking about more social issues and what’s plaguing the community. It’s a track thats close to me and I feel many people would relate to.
Would you like to share with our readers your future plans?
Right now I’m pushing Dodo II so make sure you buy and listen to that. Right now as I’m promoting that I’m starting the creative process for Dodo III next year. We’ll see where the sound takes me.
Free question!!! (Ask yourself a question) you wish to answer and haven’t been given the opportunity…
What is your goal for your releases and albums.
My main goal is always to make a classic. I hope to have one loved by all by the time it’s all said and done
