Meaney & The Misfits

‘A Kind Hearted Woman’

[americana/acoustic]

Press Notes:

Meaney and The Misfits is a band whose musictips the hat off to the best country, folk, and Americana sounds. Their tone is all about capturing great melodies, and combining earnest vocals with lush guitar tones and colorful arrangements, creating a direct and atmospheric feel. Recently, the band finished working on a brand new song titled “The whiskey the wine and the songs that make you cry.” This is the kind of beautiful song that you might expect to find on an old jukebox. The intimacy of this arrangement is the fragile strength that drives the song, and the lyrics bring a nostalgic flair to this beautiful and timeless composition.

Claire Coupland

‘1000 Miles From A Dream’

[folk/singer-songwriter]

Press Notes:

Claire Coupland is making a name for herself as a moving songwriter, a skilled vocalist, and a compelling guitarist combining smooth finger picking, jazz influenced progressions and soaring melodies. She effortlessly pulls her audience into her personal and honest world of life experiences touching on themes of love, self-doubt and optimism in the world around her. With the vocal power of Susan Tedeschi and the velvety softness and precision of Eva Cassidy she brings a graceful contemporary feel to indie folk music, always with a touch of her “wicked sense of humour” (Rik Emmett, Triumph).

Once paralyzed by the fear of showing her songs to anyone else, Claire was encouraged to cultivate her love of song writing and self-expression, with help from mentors such as Rik Emmett and Sienna Dahlen during her Contemporary Music Degree at Humber College, in Toronto. Coupland has since independently written three studio EPs, her latest, reaching #3 in the National Folk/Roots/Blues charts in Canada with !earshot. Receiving steady CBC Radio airplay across the country, On The Other Side earned Claire her first song writing nomination (“Love In Your Eyes”, Ontario Arts Council), and has received praise and glowing reviews from music magazines, blogs, and radio stations in the US, UK and Europe.

A BC born and raised musician, she has been touring Canada heavily since 2017, already landing major festival slots such as Kingsville Folk Festival, Peace Valley Folk Festival, Islands Folk Festival, Midsummer Music Fest, Living Roots Festival as well as 6 transcontinental journeys across the country as VIA Rail Artist On Board. In 2018/2021, she was selected for the Singer Songwriter Residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts where she recorded with Billerman (The Arcade Fire) and worked with mentors such as Fats Kaplin (John Prine, Jack White), The Weather Station, David Francey, Kevin Welch, Kim Richey and Grammy winning songwriter Don Henry. Big Iron

‘The Visitant’

[dark country/gothic americana]

Press Notes:

Big Iron is the realization of graveyard western and darkwave 80’s music. A concept rich with ties to the undead and cowboy lullabies, it takes you deep into the west, swallowed up by a desert horror film that only exists in the nightmares of lost souls.
