Rachel Goswell of Slowdive has a new project, entitled The Soft Cavalry, and the band will also include Goswell’s husband Steve Clarke. A musician in his own right, not to be confused with Def Leppard’s guitarist (it’s all about the “e”, people), the two were married in 2018, and according to the press release, their debut self-titled album was largely inspired by Goswell. Clarke also stated on the collab: “I’d always had ideas but never felt that anything I had to say was worthy of anyone’s attention, let alone my own. I wish that I could have done this fifteen years ago but, in reality, I simply couldn’t have. But I’m not one to overly wallow. I’d rather plough the various levels of confusion into songs.”

Last we musically-heard from Goswell was Slowdive’s most recent album ‘Slowdive‘, released in 2017 after a 22-year Slowdive hiatus, along with collaborations with Beach Fossils, Mark Kozelek, and as a member of Minor Victories. If ‘Dive‘ is any indication the duo’s debut may be the LP of the summer. ‘The Soft Cavalry‘ is due out July 5th via Bella Union, so put it on your calendars now!
