George McFall, an artist and musician based in Edinburgh, has recently dropped his latest release, The Sound of the Marketplace – a protest song against living a scripted life. The track is a mesmerizing blend of 80s new wave, industrial, and noise rock that showcases McFall’s ability to craft a pop-infused sound with a gritty, experimental edge. The song starts off as a typical new wave, alt-pop track before building up to a wall of noise that hits you like a ton of bricks. It’s as if the iconic band New Order were suddenly ambushed by Japanese noise rock band Boris, only to revert back to their original sound.
“a tenuous hilarity
the repetitions of a change machine
it’s the sound of the marketplace,
just the sound of the marketplace…“
