With a career spanning from early 70’s til today and with well over 30 studio albums, it is with great sadness that Mexican latin pop legend Juan Gabriel (born Alberto Aguilera Valadez) passed away, yesterday August 28th, at the age of 66.  According to TMZ, it is believed the singer died of natural causes (heart attack).  Gabriel was in the middle of his MeXXIco Es Todo Tour and his last ever show took place last Friday at the Forum, in Los Angeles. Named ASCAP Songwriter of the Year (1995), and having been nominated for six Grammys, during his career, the singer was one of the most beloved ones in his country, Mexico, and very well known around the globe. And don’t you dare think that it’s so easy after more than four decades of full activity in the music biz, to hold the highest grossing latin tour and latin album last year. Last, but not least, In addition, he had 31 songs that charted on the Hot Latin Songs chart, seven of which reached number one.

Hasta la vista Juan!
