Last Day Deaf is thrilled to be the Media Partner for the live appearance of iconic English punk/post punk band New Model Army for their Special 40th(+2) Anniversary Show. The postponement, from 2020, of their 40th anniversary concert in Athens is now a fact. One, two-hour, unique evening with great songs, specially selected for the occasion, from their huge discography that is going to turn into a celebration on Friday, November 4 at Fuzz Club.
Support act will be the Athenian grunge-punk quartet Kidney Black.
About New Model Army
New Model Army were formed in Bradford in 1980 by Justin Sullivan. Their sound is influenced by northern soul, punk rock and the wider restless atmosphere of the time. They have always remained true to their underground ideology and politicized lyrics. They never wish to belong to any kind of group and remain unconventional and free in their choices. Pioneers in this field, they are one of the few bands that, since the mid-80s, manage to control all aspects of their creation, without any artistic or promotional compromise, even when they were signed to major record companies (a typical example is of EMI who donated in support of the miners’ strike).
From their debut “Vengeance” (which reached #1 in the UK independent charts dethroning The Smiths) and after 16 studio albums, through many incendiary live performances they have managed to build a solid relationship with their fans, who are fanatical followers of the band even today. In recent years with the albums “Between Dog and Wolf” (2013), “Between Wine and Blood” (2014), “Winter” (2016), New Model Army is back on the charts again with the recent “From Here”, the which in a recent statement by Justin Sullivan is also the band’s favorite.
Primitive Music has two reasons to be happy as, in addition to the anniversary celebration of the British, it is also going to celebrate its own birthday, closing 10(+2) years of presence in the music events. If – let us be allowed the expression – the New Model Army concert is a gift in itself, then your presence will surely be the culmination of our efforts.
