Capturing Paul Simon’s 70s aesthetic and the pop sensibility of Gnarls Barkley – Local Nomad’s sound is marked by soulful vocals, ethereal synths, and lustrous drum beats. Michael Desmond AKA Local Nomad first hit the Long Island scene in 2009 as the frontman of the orchestral indie rock band, Gabriel the Marine. The band garnered regional attention and went on to perform nationwide with bands like Taking Back Sunday, Glassjaw, Mew, Jacks Mannequin, and The Dear Hunter.
Nearly a decade later the Long Island native has polished his sound in his solo venture as Local Nomad. Desmond returns as a blue-eyed soul dipped crooner, whose narrative lyrics yield songs that embrace traditional folk music while inviting elements of the future.
Drawing influence from everything Tears for Fears, Elvis Costello to Phil Collins, his upcoming self titled EP ‘LOCAL NOMAD’ will reflect on lost love, baseball, death and the hardships of aging. Desmond is a dad rock powerhouse who shakes hands with pop—with two fingers crossed behind the back—breaking a promise to adhere to the mainstream of the genre, fusing it with delivery of indie-rock electricity.

Chase Soundz – ‘KILL IT’
Jamaican artist Chase Soundz recently released ‘KILL IT’, a fine amalgam of hip-hop with dancehall, that according to its creator “encapsulates the idea that Chase/a listener has a goal and will quell anything that stands a chance of hindering progress, for example, jealous friends or just any of life’s surprises.” Make sure you pay attention to the great, poignant lyrics on the video!

Hailing from Jamaica, Chase Gentles, better known as Chase Soundz, is an up and coming independent recording artist and songwriter with a penchant for writing infectious music and relatable narratives. Inspired greatly by internationally acclaimed artists such as Mick Jenkins, Vybz Kartel, 50 Cent, Smino, and JID, Chase Soundz’s music journey began at the tender age of 15 when he already started writing music and poetry. When he discovered the magic of music and how it can influence people, everything changed as it sparked a burning passion for him to pursue a career as a performer. West London’s burgeoning Trap scene is all the rage this year and Junes UB is one of the acts making that happen. His trappy, American inspired uptempo beats paired up with his jaunty, deep-voiced UK rap flow create a sound that’s special to the UK scene. June’s versatility over a wide range of instrumental types doesn’t go unnoticed either.
His upbringing in a reggae and soul surrounded environment contributes to his musicality, having been raised listening to reggae greats like Bob Marley and Gregory Isaac. ‘My mum listened to a lot of R&B and soul music too, so naturally, I gravitated towards listening to it myself’. Artists like India Arie, Erykah Badu and Peter Tosh would be played on full blast and that’s where my love or music really started’.
‘As I got older and developed own music taste and began to grow fond of American music’. Having quoted acts like Lil Durk and Chief Keef as favourite artists, the inspiration from American trap and drill becomes clearly prevalent in his music. ‘I never really listened to UK music till I got older, but that’s when I started to appreciate it more for what it was’ and this appreciation is clearly upheld in the music he creates.
Having started rapping at the age of fourteen, years of honing, crafting and curating his sound has paid off to give us the authentic ‘June UB’ sound we listen to and love.
With the UK trap scene growing each day, June UB is an artist to keep an eye on this year. Expect more releases, collaborations and a few more special appearances.

Aaron “Aza” Brown is a Singer/Songwriter based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire and currently sings in The WonderWhys – a highly-demanded band who played The Alexandra Palace (Ally Pally) to 6 thousand people twice in 2017, & played with The Happy Mondays when they visited Chesterfield in 2018.
He rose to prominence in the mid-90’s with seminal Chesterfield band-The Dazy Age. Influenced by the likes of Jellyfish, Frank Zappa, The Beatles & Crowded House, they gleaned a large following in the Midlands & North-thanks to a highly original sound, & sun-soaked harmonies which were perfected into their live shows. When The Dazy Age split in 1997-after recording a well-received eponymous EP the year before-Aaron moved south to High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire & gained a degree in Music Industry Management in 2000.
Returning to Chesterfield later, he formed The Chasers-going on to win The Derbyshire Times Band of The Year title at The Winding Wheel in Chesterfield. The band went on to record the acclaimed “G-Club E.P” the next year

roman around is an American rock band from Fresno, California, formed in 2020. The band is a vehicle for the songs of Roman Rivera and consists of Roman Rivera (vocals, guitar), Justin Vogel (bass, keys, vocals), Chevas Vandel (keys, vocals), and Luke Schafer (drums).
With both Mexican and Native American heritage, Rivera grew up in a community of spirituality and music. Rivera first honed their skills as a drummer before becoming a fully-fledged multi-instrumentalist. In their late teenage years, after touring the country as a drummer for various bands, Rivera began experimenting with writing their own music. Years of communal exposure to beat making, singing, guitar, and drumming allowed them to quickly craft their own vision.
