During Doto’s upbringing everything evolved around soccer – but fortunately a stroke of fate intervened – and her heart chose to totally focus on music. Sometimes watching a movie, can make all the difference. ’Dreamgirls’ was the trigger for DOTO, who instantly realized that nothing beats the joy for singing.

The fact that her father has an Tanzanian origin, has also shaped her – and is a key factor for the topics of her songs. In Tanzania, at the birth of twin sisters, there’s a tradition that the fist born will receive the name Kulwa – and the second child, the name Doto. When choosing her artist name – this turned out to be an easy decision.
