Okay Mann – ‘When You Go’

About Okay Mann

Meet Katlin Mathison – otherwise known as Okay Mann: a schoolboy heart with wandering toes, whose childhood fascination with campfire singalongs sent him across the pond for a mentorship with Paul McCartney, a gold single in Norway, and eventually led him back to the harsh weather and friendly faces of Western Canada.

Armed with a new moniker and a suitcase of songs born of a Winnipeg winter, Okay Mann returned to the cobblestone streets of Liverpool, UK to record his debut release, Little Mersey. By combining modern recording technology with traditional analog tape methods, his debut is a unique timepiece: a snapshot caught on magnetic tape of a city left behind.

Okay Mann followed up his debut with two singles: straddling the line between invention and convention, It Won’t Be Long’s uplifting pop sensibility helps the dark lyrics hide in plain sight. Ring Road, with its infectious chorus and energetic production, works through the frustration of trying to look to the future with two feet planted firmly in the past.

Now based in a small city nestled in the Rocky Mountains, Okay Mann is currently releasing a string of upbeat singles ahead of a full-length album later this year. Listen for heart-on-your-sleeve rock & roll that worships the hook but keeps thoughtful storytelling front and centre. His is the tale of a curious nomad: living and dying, one song at a time.

Elephant – ‘Bird’s Eye View’

About Elephant

Sunny, melancholy and in a major key. That is the sound of the 4-piece indie band “Elephant”. Mellow pop music with an eccentric edge, for fans of Wilco, Andy Shauf and Big Thief.

‘It may be midnight in Manhattan but here it’s time to rise. There is always someplace better, don’t let it fool your eyes.’ The subtle groove and the sobering lyrics make Elephant’s first single ‘Midnight in Manhattan’ a must-hear for music lovers. It was added to the playlist of Amazing Radio (UK/US), peaked at the 12th position of the ‘verrukkelijke 15’ chart of Dutch national radio, and quickly reached over 25.000 streams on Spotify.

Their second single ‘Bird’s Eye View’ is a both a sweet and haunting song about coming to terms with faded dreams and getting older. On this track, Elephant is accompanied by pedal steel guitarist Stefan Wolfs (Judy Blank, Dylan LeBlanc, Next of Kin).

In March 2021, Elephant will release their self-titled EP, produced by Pablo van de Poel (DeWolff) and recorded in the Electrosaurus Southern Sound Studio.

Elephant was born in the year of a near-fatal knock-out of the music business, but debuts with a fitting and resilient response. Elephant is tipped as the new roots/indie band that just might make a difference in the coming years.

They evoke a curious combination of the modern and the instantly familiar with songs that are both intimately personal and explorations of the world at large. Universal themes of loss, triumph, and growth are distilled through autobiographical lyrics. They’re words that may be often felt but not often spoken.
