It’s been 35 years since ‘Jazz Funk’, the debut album from the pioneers of the acid jazz movement, hit the record store shelves and the least that can be said by listening to their most recent track, ‘All I Ever Wanted’, is that their inspiration is at least enduring. ‘All I Ever Wanted’ is the ideal sedative, a smooth jazzy single for endless summer nights featuring the ‘voice of Incognito’ Maysa, to frustrate our impatience for the band’s 17th (out on 24th June) studio album ‘In Search Of Better Days’.
The mastermind and creative force of Incognito Bluey aka Jean-Paul Maunick, expressed the following about the title of the album: ‘We are living in troubled times and I see the plight of the young in my neighborhood, the refugee crisis in London and all over Europe. Corruption. Child abuse. There is political, religious and financial misguided ideology all around the globe’. And continues: ‘My trade is music and social awareness, and as such, I am fully aware of those In Search Of Better Days, including myself!’.
‘In Search Of Better Days’ features some of the elite of their kind, such as singer/pianist Avery*Sunshine, drummer Richard Spaven (Flying Lotus, The Cinematic Orchestra, Guru’s Jazzmataz), cosmic percussionist Jody Linscott and Japanese guitar genius Tomoyasu Hotei (‘Kill Bill’).
Hey…New Incognito is near… Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing…
