What inspired you to first start making music? And how did you come to be in your current incarnation? Or if you prefer, a brief bio about you.

I think honestly Sonny Elliot came about because we needed a change, we spent years playing everything as loud as possible in our previous projects so it’s actually really refreshing to be able to try something new. Me and Chris our brothers so we’ve always made music together and our family is very musical so it’s just what we’ve known.

Provide us with some info about your latest release…

Our new EP ‘Broken Glasses’ is out this Friday (October 19th) and is a further exploration of themes touched upon in our Under Covers EP while refining our sound.

Which ones would you consider your main influences both music-wise & non-music-wise?

We have so many influences, for me artists like Big Star, Elliott Smith and The Smiths. Not just the music but lyrics are huge for us, all of them are outstanding at what they do. We are also really inspired by movies and movie soundtracks. Situations that are going on in our lives tend to make way into our songs and lyrics.

In what way does your sound differ from the rest genre-related artists/bands and why should we listen to your music? In other words, how would you describe your sound?

Our sound is made up of different elements that might not be noticeable but all add up to the sound. We like to use different instruments like the Saxophone or string quartets. Lyrically it is personal and maybe it might connect with someone who listens.

Do you prefer studio or performing live and why?

I definitely prefer playing live, being in a studio is fun but it can be very draining. Live is just great all round, I love travelling, meeting new people and there’s nothing better than having a really good set.

Is there any funny-unique story you would like to share with us, always in relation to your music ‘career’?

One time in our previous project we played a gig on a really small boat in Germany, which sounds fun. It was insanely hot and the water was so choppy, It was the first time meeting with the head of our European label and after the gig he came up to us but before anything could be said our drummer was just throwing up all over the side of the boat. Great first impression.

Which track of your own would you point out as the most unique and why?

Personally I would have to say Without You from our first EP. It’s got a double bass and a saxophone solo so it’s not really our “norm”.

Would you like to share with our readers your future plans?

We are currently working out our plans for 2019. We want to be playing shows and working towards our debut album while also releasing songs through out the year.

Free question!!! (Ask yourself a question) you wish to answer and haven’t been given the opportunity…

What country would you like to play in?

We would love to get to play a show in Mexico.
