What inspired you to first start making music? And how did you come to be in your current incarnation? Or if you prefer, a brief bio about you.

We suppose music is our way to externalize our feelings, we use it as a decompression method and as a way of hanging out together and having fun. Data Fragments first started at 2017 as a trio (Panos Dedepsidis, Stathis Leontiadis, Panos Dimopoulos) with a drum machine and since 2021 we added the drums (Vangelis Felonis).

Provide us with some info about your latest release…

Our new LP is coming sometime in December, it is a work that started during the pandemic which is the main reason it took so long to be completed. We put a lot of effort into it and we are very excited we can finally share it with other people.

Which ones would you consider your main influences both music-wise & non-music-wise?

This is a difficult question to answer because we all come from different music backgrounds from psychedelic garage to metal having post punk, dark wave and new wave as a common ground. Non musical influences are coming from our environment, culture and experiences.

In what way does your sound differ from the rest genre-related artists/bands and why should we listen to your music? In other words, how would you describe your sound?

That is hard to say for our self… We are trying to create authentic music as we feel it not having a particular sound in mind but the final result is inevitably also shaped by our influences. In our own ears our music sounds different than others. What we can say is that we focus on many melodic lines played along with noises and strong steady rhythms.

Some bands we can relate (to) are the Cure, the Chameleons, Killing Joke.

Please name your 3 desert islands albums, movies & books…

Hoping we will never be in such a situation but if so hopefully having a device that can play there.

Albums: The Cure – Pornography, Reporters – Bare Hands, Killing Joke – What’s this for…

Movies: Buster Keaton – The General, Dario Argento – Suspiria, Mark Lester – class of 1984

Books: Albert Camus – The stranger, John Steinbeck – Of men and mice and Hermann Hesse – Narcisssus and Goldmund.

Do you prefer studio or performing live and why?

We like the creative process in the studio but we prefer performing live with an audience so we can share this experience with other people.

Is there any funny-unique story you would like to share with us, always in relation to your music ‘career’?

Most stories about playing music in Greece are about working hard and having lots of obstacles. The funny stories are there too but they usually come when you are too drunk to remember.

Which track of your own would you point out as the most unique and why?

It is hard to distinguish a song from the rest but maybe a song that sound a bit different and got us out of our comfort zone is ¨Shallow¨ from our new LP.

Would you like to share with our readers your future plans?

We are not in position unfortunately to make long term plans, we take it one step at the time. At the moment we cant wait to release the new album. After that we would wish for some live performances outside Greece but there is nothing planned yet.

Free question!!! (Ask yourself a question) you wish to answer and haven’t been given the opportunity…

We are very happy participating at the Electrospank event we are prepared to have an awesome time and we are very glad this is happening for a good reason supporting children with cancer.
