Bridget Rian

‘Trailer Park Cemetery’

[indie folk]

Press Notes:

Now based in Nashville, Rian grew up on Long Island, NY and began writing songs at the age of 11 after her mother bought her a guitar for her 10th birthday. “My parents always listened to a great wide array of music. I feel like I really got a great music education from both of them,” says Rian. “In high school, my choir teacher pulled me aside and showed me badass women singer-songwriters and that’s when I really started to develop my taste and become basically addicted to songwriting. High school was a hard time for me so songwriting was really a way for me to process my emotions.” Although Rian declared Music as her major in college, it was difficult for her to fall in love with the Classical music course requirements. A few years and major changes later, in the summer of 2019 she decided to make the move down South and focus on her songwriting career in Nashville.

Sally Rushbrook & The Soothsayers

‘Haunts’

[folk/gypsy jazz/acoustic]

Press Notes:

Sally Rushbrook’s is a music that has forgotten its own age.

Distinctly old in style, these songs draw influence from folk, gypsy jazz and barroom blues. Yet, this music seems as contemporary as ever it might have done when Sally uses these influences to craft narrative songs around characters with unmistakably modern preoccupations.

Janelle Loes

‘There are Things’

[americana]

Press Notes:

Janelle Loes is an award-winning singer/songwriter who knows how to spin a song and mesmerize an audience. Her distinctive style fuses elements of jazz, pop, and contemporary music, while her sultry melodic voice and narrative style speak to the heart.

Listeners are continually drawn in by Loes’ remarkable talent as both a songwriter and a performer. Her original songs are crafted orchestrations driven by their sweet sincerity and honest lyrics. Poetic, bold, and convincing, her songs seek definition from life as they carve their own path, make their own rules, and delve deep to carefully unearth the light in dark times.

An accomplished finger-style guitarist, pianist, and vocalist, Janelle captivates audiences with her rich versatility, evocative sound, and charming presence. She was the winner of the 2016 Tucson Folk Festival Songwriting Competition, Top-Ten Winner of the Rocky Mountain Songwriting Competition, and Winner of the 2010 Chicks with Picks Songwriting Competition.

Her music has received international acclaim, and has been featured in numerous films and TV shows including the Polish Soap opera “Julia”, the Spanish film “Una Pistola en Cada Mano”, and the Austrian Documentary “Somewhere Else Tomorrow”. Her jazzy rendition of I’ll Be Home for Christmas was featured in AZ Family’s ‘Arizona Highways’ Christmas Special and her song “Afterthought” was also included in the Spanish release Cappuccino Volume 7; alongside tracks from Sia, Feist, and Norah Jones.

Greta Isaac

‘FU’

[folk/singer-songwriter]

Press Notes:

Born to a musical family in rural Wales, Greta started writing songs as a child, often in her native Welsh language. The poetic traditions and story telling of her homeland continue to shape and influence her artistic process; one that has culminated in her forthcoming EP ‘Pessimist’ due 7th May.

At the heart of her songwriting is a creative tension; an undeniable sense for ear-worm hooks and sharp pop melodies, combined with incisive and often funny lyricism that mixes the personal with the universal. Focusing on forging meaningful creative relationships, Greta has worked closely with writers and producers Martin Luke Brown, Matt Zara, Mark Elliot and Phil Cook. They wrote in their bedrooms, tracked vocals in tiny box studios and worked on the tracks bit by bit over months and months, letting them breathe before coming back to them when it felt right.

Marquisette

‘The star of the show’

[country/americana]

Press Notes:

Marquisette is a genre-fluid project that aims to bring a sense of fun and positivity to proceedings. People, places, nature, emotion; inspiration is everywhere.

Tom West

‘Exile’

[dark country/americana]

Press Notes:

Until March West had spent the majority of the past 3 years pounding the pavement in the United States: touring, couch surfing, overnight busses to and from shows, sleeping in stations – good, bad and ugly shows and everything in between including dog attacks and a global pandemic outbreak.

Antarctica was written during a period after his father died from motor neurone disease. Produced by Allen Tate (San Fermin) in Brooklyn, NY. Mixed & mastered by Tyler McDiarmid. It features a collection of songs that have proven to enthral audiences around the world with West’s forthcoming style and the honesty behind his storytelling and music.

‘Invisible Ink’

[folk/acoustic/singer-songwriter]

Currently residing in Los Angeles, California, Mikayla is earning her Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Chapman University, where her area of focus is nonfiction and memoir. She writes about heartbreak, abandonment, struggle, and mental illnesses, both in her prose and her songs.

Van Plating

‘The Way Down’

[folk/singer-songwriter/americana]

Press Notes:

Van Plating wasn’t sure how her self-titled album would be received in 2019 after a nine-year hiatus from music.

After attending Florida Southern College and majoring in violin and voice, Plating spent her 20s immersed in the indie rock scene, playing violin and singing with her band Pemberly (named after the country estate in Pride & Prejudice). The band was poised for success, receiving warm receptions while on tour with the likes of Copeland, The Postmarks, Matt Pond PA, and Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s. Things were going great — until they weren’t. The band broke up and she decided to take some time off. A year turned into three, which turned into six, and before she knew it nearly a decade had passed.

Plating woke up one day and wasn’t sure where she fit in musically anymore. The music business isn’t known for being kind to women after they reach a certain age — and she no longer had a band to blend in with. She knew if she took another shot at it, she would be front and center, and would rise or fall alone. Either way, she knew she wanted to try again, and cast any fears aside.

Plating recently confessed about 2019’s Van Plating, “A year and a half ago, I thought I was going to write a little acoustic record to give to my friends, but that’s not what it turned out to be at all.” Instead, the album took on a life of its own, blossoming into a collection of songs indebted to the confessional folk tradition whilst embracing forward-thinking pop song structures, harkening to celebrated offerings from Lilith Fair icons like Paula Cole, Aimee Mann, Natalie Merchant, and Shawn Colvin. Plating also dipped her toes into the Americana world with songs like “Standing Still” and “Mountain” — both of which received praise from Americana-focused media outlets.

Filiah

‘Goodbye’

[indie folk]

Press Notes:

Since she was little, the now 22 year-old singer/songwriter has always been fascinated by words. Having great music and records around all the time, thanks to her mum, she started writing songs and teaching herself how to play the guitar at a very young age. Her music is always the one thing that usually comes without a warning, yet is always welcome.
