Rider In The Rain

‘There’s More To Life Than Money’

[americana/alt country]

Press Notes:

Rider In The Rain is the new project from the Anglo-Irish singer-songwriter Marlow Gillham. Working with veteran players from Nashville and the UK his well-crafted songs possess rich and complex arrangements. Comparisons are being made to Leonard Cohen and Randy Newman.

Red:30

‘Won’t Be Coming Home’

[blues/americana]

Press Notes:

Nashville-based bluesy neo-country fronted by songwriting duo Hollie Brogunier and “Drop” Dee Draeger. Sounds like the love child of Heart, Indigo Girls and Miranda Lambert.

Psychedelic Revolution

‘Sacred Song’

[indie folk/lo-fi rock]

Press Notes:

From the live houses of the Jing to busking in underground tunnels in Singapore Psychedlic Revolution (aka Psyche Rev) is a one man project that’s into soul, rock, and some pop. Has worked with the likes of Warren Riker and Riddim from XTX and received a shout out from We Love Lo Fi and made the bekypequi playlist. Tastes like Kung Pao Chicken. Looks like a cross between Brag Pitt and Heath Leather. Smells like team spirit. Feels like baby powder. Oh the music. Yeah, it sounds good.

E.G. Phillips

‘Party in the Sunset’

[folk/country/singer-songwriter]

Press Notes:

E.G. Phillips is a San Francisco based songwriter who creates lyric driven songs with his own special blend of whimsy and cinematic imagery which he uses to give a wry take on dealing with the longings of the heart and the madness of existence.

In possession of a degree in Geography, he comes from a country called the Midwest and his favorites include Bob Dylan and The Kinks as well as Duke Ellington…and that crowd. When it comes to his stage presence, there’s a touch of satirist Tom Lehrer in the mix. As for the inspiration for his lyrics, he readily admits an unusually outsized influence by long running British sci-fi show “Doctor Who.”

”Ducks With Pants” is the name of his fake band.

Stillblue

‘Blind’

[indie folk]

Press Notes:

Stillblue is a five-piece band emulsifying indie-rock, folk, and alt-country with lyrics meditating on love, loss, and getting older in the perspiring humidity of Miami, Florida. Composed of Daniel Estrada (lap-steel/keys), Diego Gamez (drums), Yamil Granda (bass), Enrique Rosell (vocals/guitar), and Sofia Soriano (vocals/guitar), the group found each other in the local music scene while playing in different bands. They share a love for the melancholic, cathartic melodies, and the need to make music as honestly as possible.

Grimson

‘Set Gently’

[indie folk]

Press Notes:

I am a 24 year old Swedish/American songwriter and animator – grew up in NYC. I try to weave animated narratives though my songs, and this project, Grimson, is an ongoing music/film thing. I work in a hotel in Berlin.

EleanorGrace

‘Season Finale’

[alt country/pop]

Press Notes:

EleanorGrace is an 18 year old Iowa native who leapt on to the Des Moines music scene 3 years ago with her debut single, “Lighthouse”. Her eclectic sense of creativity has led her to write songs spanning multiple genres, and she shows no sign of sticking to one thing any time soon. Her influences include Kacey Musgraves, Lucinda Williams, Maggie Rogers, and Cowboy Junkies. During the pandemic, she was strongly influenced by western imagery and media. After reading “Outlaw”, by Anna North and watching “Westworld”, she carefully crafted a classic country narrative about love and loss, resulting in “Dream About a Cowboy”, her first full length record due at the end of August. Eleanor is a true musical chameleon, blending in, adapting, and assimilating to every genre but country is where her vocals and songwriting chops seem to thrive.

Gemma Laurence

‘Lavender’

[indie folk/indie rock]

Press Notes:

Gemma Laurence is an indie folk singer/songwriter from the coast of Maine. Half British and half American, Laurence’s time on both sides of the Atlantic has influenced her unique sound: a fusion of foot-stomping Americana with a hint of English folk. Blending bluegrass banjo riffs and cello melodies, Laurence’s timeless tracks call her listeners home to the people and places left behind for new beginnings.

Bre Kennedy

‘Ribbon’

[folk/pop/singer-songwriter]

Press Notes:

Bre Kennedy, the Nashville-based singer-songwriter, shares “Ribbon,” a track dedicated to celebrating the moments of finally letting go. With this idea in mind, “Ribbon” invites listeners into a new chapter in the world of Bre Kennedy and is a preview of what’s to come later this year.

The All Canadian Soundclash

‘Be Here With You’

[folk rock]

Press Notes:

The All Canadian Soundclash is a musical recording project from singer and songwriter Andrew Michelin of Ottawa, Ontario Canada which spotlights the best in original indie folk and alternative rock n’ roll through well crafted song writing and live performance. Michelin tries to take a less is more philosophy when it comes to creating his music which is steeped in melodic traditions that can be traced directly back to The Beatles. This helps make the songs accessible and radio friendly and Andrew Michelin understands both the importance of structure and the desirability of pop hooks and repeatedly he delivers both.

In the early 90’s while still in high school, Andrew was the lead singer of the alternative band Bufflehead which were very involved in the Ottawa music scene and subsequently throughout Ontario and beyond. Bufflehead and other local bands began organizing their own shows and booking bands to play on the bill with them. They organized shows with bands such as The Gandharva’s, Furnaceface, The Doughboys, Illegal Jazz Poets and Black Triangle just to name a few.

Songwriting runs deep in Michelin’s family. His grandfather Stewart also wrote songs, but not for any notoriety or career path. It was for fun. It was a game. It was competition. Andrew Michelin’s grandfather was one of the last generations of Indigenous trappers in northern Canada that still worked and traded with the Hudson’s Bay Company. While out in the wilderness for weeks at a time in isolation each trapper would write a song and when they all came home they would show off their songs to one another to see who wrote the best one. Andrew’s grandfather did write one of the best songs on one of his trips and that song “The Grand River Song” has been recorded and performed by numerous musicians to this day in Canada.
