The broader Detroit based indie alt band that defies genres, They Travel at Night have just released ‘Entropy’ an EP of five intriguing tunes sure to keep you hooked for the entire 16 minutes. The duo’s first track ‘Go On’ is the dreamy illegitimate child of The I.L.Y.’s and Blink-182 that has a penchant for synth-y 80s action movie soundtracks. Curious yet? ‘Fare Thee Well’ has the soothing techniques of an experienced lullaby crooner paired with the viciousness of the quiet-loud Pixies method, making for my favorite track off the EP. Meanwhile, ‘Moment’ is lyrically rife with nature references, and is hopeful while somber. ‘Into It’ also has luscious 80s synth vibes, while also bringing to mind late 90s early emo. Final track ‘Colors’ is sonically colorful, twinkly and shining initiating imagery and sparking the imagination. Each track off ‘Entropy’ has single potential, with each one being uniquely of high quality in their own right.
They Travel At Night’s influences range as far as the Himalayas do, with artists from Mr. Bungle to The Beatles, and The White Stripes to Black Star. This breadth of inspiration can be heard throughout each track on ‘Entropy’ and makes for a comforting yet fresh and impassioned work of art.
