“Good morning!” Kim Deal enthusiastically exclaims, opening ‘Wait In The Car’ the first release of new music from The Breeders since 2009. Clocking in at only two minutes the track was released alongside a lyric video featuring graffiti-esque art and a brick. And for all you Pixies fans? It was red at some point. The new single is to be released on three different limited-release vinyls via 4AD: the first is set for your buying pleasure on The Breeders’ upcoming tour dates starting the 15th (see below for a list) and will feature a b-side cover of Amon Düül II’s ‘Archangel’s Thunderbird’, the second vinyl will be in record stores on the 27th of October featuring a b-side cover of Devo’s ‘Gates Of Steel’, while the third release will be pressed on red vinyl with a cover of Michael Nesmith’s ‘Joanne’ which has yet to have a set date of release.
Over the years the iconic band has gone through many lineup changes and this current one has all members from the ‘Last Splash’ era – their most popular album. When will we have more than just a single? Well, The Breeders went into the studio last year to prepare their next record, the followup to 2009’s ‘Mountain Battles’, and it’ll supposedly have a track with Courtney Barnett on backing vocals. So hold your horses, folks. It’s going to be one amazing record.
