Tara Nome Doyle, the Berlin-based singer-songwriter and pianist with Irish and Norwegian roots, returns to the music scene with her latest EP, ‘Agape‘ (translated to “Love” from Greek). Following her previous albums from 2020 and 2022, Doyle presents a raw and intimate collection of six tracks that she’s entirely DIY’d.
The EP kicks off with a serene vibe, -after the introductory ‘Till Till Tara (Voice Memo)‘-, setting the tone for what’s to come. ‘Hush‘ hooks you in with its delicate vocals and heartfelt piano, creating a haunting atmosphere that pulls you into an emotional journey. Tracks like ‘Blueberry Stains‘ showcase Doyle’s skillful acoustic guitar work and soulful vocals, while the dark opus ‘Mater Nostra‘ introduces a melancholic piano backed by a mesmerizing female choir, bringing in mind iconic acts like Ataraxia & Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio. ‘Eiderflower (Love is Long)‘ hits hard with its sublime lyrics and captivating vocals, leaving a lasting impression. We have to mention that Tara’s minimalistic arrangements are ideally accompanied by the haunting melodies of Norwegian-Scottish cellist Sunniva Lilian Shaw Of-Tordarroch.
Throughout the EP, Doyle explores themes of love and introspection, offering a comforting and cathartic experience for listeners dealing with heartache. ‘Agape‘ is a testament to Doyle’s artistic depth and emotional resonance, capturing the essence of unconditional love in its short but impactful conclusion. This EP is a must-listen for anyone seeking solace and connection through music in today’s world.
