Major news update: a punk supergroup has coalesced in the form of the Beach Rats, featuring Lifetime vocalist Ari Katz, Brian Baker (the guitarist formerly of Minor Threat, Dag Nasty, and Bad Religion), half of Bouncing SoulsBrian Kienlen and Pete Steinkopf on guitar and bass, and Danny Windas on drums (from A New Enemy among other beloved bands).

The band’s debut EP ‘Wasted Time‘ is set for release on July 27 via Bridge Nine Records, the hardcore-punk-specialist label. Beach Rats have given us all a sample of their five-track EP with ‘Skins, Brains, and Dubs‘. The second single, ‘Skins, Brains, and Dubs‘ follows the release of opening track ‘Lonely For The Night‘. The EP itself has been described as “fast, melodic hardcore punk that will leave the listener begging for more”.

If you find that’s the case, you can always satiate your need for more by finding them live on July 21st at Asbury Park’s Asbury Park Brewery along with Stag Party, Fuck It I Quit, School Drugs, and The Wilds. Or if that date/local doesn’t work for you or you’re up for another night of pogoing, they’ll be at the PhilaMOCA in Philadelphia on July 22nd with Fuck It I Quit and Luxe. You can check out both ‘Skins, Brains, and Dubs‘ and ‘Lonely For The Night‘ below.
