Your favorite stoner bands (no, neither is Fu Manchu) Big Business and the legendary Sleep will be coming to a venue near you this spring. That is, of course, if you live in the US. Sleep are set to release a 4-LP live album and in celebration of ‘Sleep Live At Third Man Records‘ and their most recent album 2018’s ‘The Sciences‘ they’ll be joined by Big Business as opener for 19-dates. This marks the first tour announcement since Sleep’s guitarist Matt Pike had to cancel two consecutive tours with his other band High On Fire due to complications of diabetes. Upon the second cancellation Pike wrote to fans – in part: “I am a warrior for our art, and have endured some painful things to what we do. The timing and repeating nature of this is my nightmare and almost impossible. Nevertheless, to save yet another toe, my big one, I have been grounded by circumstances out of my control. I will have more of a medical report to come but right now I’m at great risk of losing it, and/or a bigger portion of my foot due to Diabetes. Which I have been managing very well. It just shows how this disease can affect our lives. Please forgive me…”
Since he was seen at the Grammy Awards early in February walking with a cane but in good spirits. Sleep will be performing at Portland, Maine’s State Theater on 4/20 (a must see show!) and 4/21 as well prior to embarking on their tour with Big Business. The latter band’s latest album ‘The Beast You Are‘ will be out April 12th via Joyful Noise Recordings. Check down below for some groovy/sludgy hard-hitting tunes – ‘The Sciences‘ and ‘Let Them Grind‘ – and a lengthy list of tour dates.
