Neoclassical Suite is a column that will present 7 recent, distinctive tracks of the neoclassical-modern classical-contemporary -and beyond!- music field.

The Players

Jesse Brown

(neoclassical)

Canadian pianist Jesse Brown’s career is absolutely blowing up on major streaming platforms over the past two years with his solo piano recordings and collaborations. He has had a total of 7 releases featured across major playlists like Apple Music’s ‘Piano Chill’ and Deezer’s ‘Calm Piano’, as well as Spotify’s monstrous Peaceful Piano, Calm Vibes, Sleepy Piano, Piano In The Background, among many others.

Andrei Poliakov

(modern classical, jazz, fusion)

His music sounds like no one else, being one big potpourri of styles and atmospheres: and this music is beautiful. You’d think you’re listening to a nice and easy, romantic piece, but all of a sudden it transforms right into an exciting house party; an electronic music from the seventies can easily morph with a warm classical followup. Who dares to jump from the 80’s house beat right into a nice jazz-combo feel? Well, here you will find this, that’s for sure. You will never get bored by what you are listening to… you simply can’t escape.

Andrei is a classically trained pianist with a rich background in rock and pop music. This project relates his life experiences and his passion for pure musical art, not tainted with any commercial agenda. He simply pictures the world as it it – in its ugliness and in its beauty.

Latin Shui

(neoclassical, cinematic)

Latin Shui is a producer project by Ben Hwang based out of NYC. Torn between his many musical influences he aims to preserve his love for the directness of simpler singer-songwriter driven folk (also performing and recording as Benjamin Winston) and his love for exploring electronic based sounds and samples.

Hess Is More

(neoclassical, solo piano)

Hess Is More started as a solo project for Danish musician Mikkel Hess, and has over the years developed into a circular transatlantic ensemble including musicians from Copenhagen, New York and Berlin.

Hess Is More has released 9 albums and a bunch of EP’s and singles – music sounding in a borderland between jazz, kraut, electronica, pop, folk and more.

Bandlead Mikkel Hess is also known as a prolific composer for film, theatre and ballet.

Fiona Joy Hawkins

(neoclassical, solo piano)

Fiona Joy (Hawkins) is an Australian Pianist, Composer and Singer. Known asThe Piano Angel in China, she is a member of the New Age Super-group FLOW (Fiona Joy, Lawrence Blatt, Jeff Oster, Will Ackerman) and performed with them at New York’s Carnegie (Weill Hall) as well as on Echoes/NPR Radio in 2017. François Simitchiev, a double bassist trained at the classical school, explores the pathways between contemporary and minimalist, ambient and electronic music. He composes pieces in which he experiments with the sound of the double bass, the fusion of technology and the organic.
