Spooky Tooth‘s and The Only Ones‘ drummer Mike Kellie passed away this week at the age of 69 following a short illness. The rest of The Only Ones posted the following statement regarding the loss of their bandmate on Facebook:
“Mike Kellie
1947 – 2017
We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of our friend and colleague Mike Kellie.
Kellie learned of his illness last summer but, characteristically, chose to keep the diagnosis private. We will post more, personal, appreciations in due course but for the moment we’ll recall the 40 years of music-making we shared with him. A gentleman, a friend and a fine musician. Our thoughts are with his family.

Mike Kellie released also a single via Decca, ‘Going Steady‘ as Mike Kelly, and served as a member of the British R&B musical ensemble The V.I.Ps. He also did session drumming for Traffic, Johnny Thunders, George Harrison & Peter Frampton among others.
