Yemen Blues’ Only Love Remains is a poignant tribute to late Yemeni musician Ahmed Alshaiba, blending deep emotion with the band’s signature fusion of traditional and contemporary sounds. The track, part of their upcoming album, reflects a raw, spontaneous creative process, highlighting the ensemble’s rich cultural tapestry and exceptional musicianship. The accompanying video, directed by Shaul Luria and Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz, visually celebrates Alshaiba’s spirit, adding depth to this soulful, immersive piece. Only Love Remains beautifully captures both joy and sorrow, embodying Yemen Blues’ heartfelt tribute.
“Ahmed was an incredible oud player and an exceptionally kind person. I started writing Only Love Remains in New York when I was longing for Yemen, my father’s country. Ahmed translated the song from English to Yemeni Arabic, and then after he passed, the song became about him. About Ahmed being the beauty of Yemen and how we remember him and glorify his legacy. Sonically, it’s influenced by African tribal music, we wanted a simple but soulful fierce groove.” Yemen Blues
