Portland’s own Venetian Veil are the duo redefining musical boundaries, and we’re here for it. They’re the kind of act that transcends genres, crafting sounds that are as daring as they are captivating. Case in point: their latest opus, Silent Land (Rebuild).
Clocking in at over 8 minutes, this track is a slow-burning cosmic journey through post-rock landscapes, a meditation on wildfire-scarred terrain. It’s a blend of goth, doom metal, post rock, and ambient music, like a dreamscape where early Dead Can Dance meets Justin K. Broadrick’s Jesu. But the real magic happens at the 5:40 mark, where the track takes an anthemic twist. The epic riff that emerges is so powerful it could make Icon-era Paradise Lost green with envy. Silent Land (Rebuild) is a unique experience, a dark soul that grips you and doesn’t let go.
This is easily one of the standout tracks of 2024 for Last Day Deaf. Venetian Veil, you’ve done it again. We can’t get enough.
