The Dream Eaters, comprising Elizabeth LeBaron from Calgary and Jake Zavracky from Boston, recently unveiled their pure ’80s throwback, mood pills. Beyond its surface, the track delves into the impact of mood-altering drugs on a relationship, exploring the shifts in dynamics and the sexual dysfunction that can arise from psychiatric medication. The Dream Eaters navigate through a nostalgic sonic landscape, fusing evocative storytelling with a synth-infused sound that transports listeners to the heart of ’80s retro vibes while unraveling the complexities of modern relationships affected by mental health.
“I was diagnosed with depression in 2021 and it took a few tries to figure out what medication worked for me,” explains Elizabeth LeBaron. “Those first few months of navigating how it affected my relationships felt a lot like what this song is saying.”
