Meet Sam Abbo, the bassist extraordinaire of the up-and-coming jazz-punk sensation Opus Kink, who’s now stepping into the solo spotlight with his debut single, Pass The Fiddle to The Beast, released through the groovy Hideous Mink Records (home to Opus Kink, Alien Chicks Fake Turins, Black Bordello). But wait, there’s more—Abbo’s not just about that bass; he’s a multi-instrumentalist maestro, rocking out on 4 strings, 6 strings, 12 strings, piano, and even the clarophone! With his first single teasing the highly anticipated album Add to The Noise, get ready for a wild ride. Pass The Fiddle to The Beast is a playful honky-tonk romp, blending catchy sing-along choruses with a deep dive into the struggles of alcoholism and the sweet solace of making music. So, grab your dancing shoes and get ready to join the party!
Speaking on the track, Abbo says “‘Pass The Fiddle to The Beast’ is a honky tonk sing-a-long about alcoholism and making music, brought to life by Becka Wright on violin, kindly filling in for the devil who was too busy to bust out a solo on the record. It’s the first single from my upcoming album ‘Add to the Noise’ recorded over an extended period of time with Jake Smallwood at Farm Road Studios in Brighton. The death of a friend kicked off an intense period of writing music. After some time frantically and aimlessly creating songs to cast into the void, I decided it would be a good idea to put them all together and give the nothingness an album to chew on.“
