Rachel Ana Dobken’s Give Us Another Chance emerges as a poignant breakup ballad, showcasing her multifaceted talent beyond the confines of drums and guitar. As a skilled multi-instrumentalist, Dobken’s honest and stripped-down approach amplifies the emotional depth of the song. Produced by Erik Romero of The Front Bottoms, the track boasts Dobken’s lyrical prowess and soulful vocals, augmented by the mesmerizing saxophone contributions of Clint Maedgen from the iconic Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Together, they craft a hauntingly beautiful composition that resonates with raw authenticity and musical finesse.

In my mind there were hopes of a door still open with an ex who I loved very dearly,” Dobken says of the song’s inspiration, “but ultimately it didn’t work out. We went back and forth talking for a while until I found out in the worst way—via social media—that he had a new girlfriend. I was so devastated that day, the only way I could deal with my broken heart was to sit at the piano and write it out. ‘Give Us Another Chance’ flooded out of me in about 20 minutes.”
