Pigeon Club, the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Wayne Whittaker, unleashes the playful chaos of Liar from the indie rock haven of Los Angeles. In this lush and wistful track, Pigeon Club delves into the aftermath of a defense mechanism malfunction with a blend of humor and heart. Teaming up with Grammy-winning co-producers John Would and Amy Wood, known for their magic touch with Fiona Apple and Warren Zevon, Liar is a sneak peek into an upcoming album. The music video adds a comedic twist, featuring a traveling entertainer and his puppet sidekick navigating illusions and sleight of hand. Amidst the deception, the show must go on, even if the toll is evident.
“This was a really hard song to write,” Whittaker recalls, “structurally, it came together very quickly. But once I read it back, it became clear that this was going to be a particularly exposing three minutes. Thankfully, the touched upon themes are unmistakably human, so at the very least I’ve confirmed that I am indeed only human.”
