Oliver Myles Mashburn, the singer, songwriter, guitarist, and visual artist from Hudson, NY, recently graced us with his 8-minute alt-country masterpiece, Highway Ghost Song. This track was a live, one-take studio recording, and its intense psychedelic elements evoke the sensation of driving down a dark desert road in the dead of a late summer night. The long, restless hours and winding road create a haunting and disturbing atmosphere for the driver. Blurring the line between dreams and reality, the song features a driving rhythm, smoky vocals, spaced-out slide guitar, rolling bass, and dramatic, sparse percussion.

It’s a more psychedelic and uninhibited venture, akin to the soundtrack of a twisted spaghetti western by Tarantino when things have taken a dark turn.
