Rotterdam-based quartet Neighbours Burning Neighbours is steadily laying the groundwork for their debut album set to drop in September 2024. They recently unleashed the track and video titled Neil Young. This post punk slow-burner, with its repetitive killer verse of “Neil Young is killing me” embeds itself in your brain, while the krautrock-inspired rhythms contribute to the song’s nihilistic atmosphere. After the second-minute mark, the track erupts into a volcanic noise rock of molten lava, gradually dissolving back into its post punk angularity.
In 2019, we noted that they embody The Ex’s heritage at its best, and here in 2023, Neighbours Burning Neighbours continues to affirm and evolve their place in the contemporary post punk scene.
