The German art-pop trio, Mayuko, unveils White Heat, their latest single from the upcoming debut album set for release in January. This track poignantly captures the sensation of being ensnared in a panic attack. Sonically, it presents an intriguing fusion of art pop infused with indie electronic elements reminiscent of the ethereal sounds of Icelandic icon Björk, while also channeling the alternative pop essence found in acts like Fever Ray and The Knife.

“‘White Heat’ is basically the description of how it feels to be caught in a panic attack. The tension builds up until its not bearable anymore. And then it all breaks down, a flood running out until one feels very empty.

For me personally “White Heat” was a very special one, because it was the first time i wrote both music and lyrics that are very personal. I wrote it in a period when i actually really started to deal with mental issues that, had been bothering me already for quite a long time. I imagined both my fear and myself as deer running together. Giving that existential panic a concrete image somehow made it less overwhelming. I guess the moment you put these thoughts and feelings in a song, they get a life of their own. That makes it much easier to distance from it and see it from another perspective. And of course i hope the song will help listeners to deal with similar issues as well, to feel seen and to know you´re not alone with this!” Mayuko bassist Rebecca Mauch
