Lenka, the multi-talented Australian singer-songwriter, has enjoyed a versatile and enduring music career spanning fifteen years, encompassing her early foray into acting in Australian film and TV, her musical origins with acclaimed band Decoder Ring, headlining festivals across Asia, a whirlwind phase with Epic Records in New York, and the establishment of her independent label, Skipalong Records. Throughout her journey, Lenka’s songwriting has consistently exuded whimsical optimism. Her latest single, is the lush synth-pop Champion, featuring alluring vocals, embodying a blend of creativity and a positive outlook that defines her musical identity. And that chorus is just gorgeous destined to sing-along!

From Lenka on Champion – “I wanted to write a song about being someone’s champion because it really feels like that’s an important part of a healthy marriage to me. I’ve been married 11 years and myself and James really cheer each other on in our lives. Romance isn’t just about the gifts and gestures and hearts and flowers. It’s about really being there for someone in the long run. That’s what makes me feel truly loved. Working with Josh was literally a laugh a minute. I’m so glad we finally got to work together. We’ve known each other for years and years and he’s also in a healthy long term partnership. Might not be the coolest subject to write a pop song about but I feel like it’s worth immortalising these wins! The video for Champion was a very simple idea. Super stripped back, no need for any fuss, just straight and clean. Then we have the animations from my partner James Gulliver Hancock illustrating the extra stuff we don’t need to prove our love. To me this song lives in a world with ‘Islands In The Stream’ and ‘Put a Little Love in Your Heart’, so Josh and I are like the Ma and Pa of the internet now…”
