Top of the World by Julia Logan encapsulates the essence of her dreamy folk-pop journey. With lyrics that echo the longing for simpler times and a world teetering on the brink of chaos, Logan’s voice pierces through with both comfort and vulnerability. Her upbringing on a Swedish island and experiences in southern California infuse the song with a rich tapestry of emotions. Teaming up with Daniel Bengtson, the track delves into themes of personal growth, isolation, and the quest for belonging. As Logan’s melodies soar, listeners are transported to a realm where hope prevails, reminding us to cherish life’s small wonders amidst the tumult of existence.

I wrote Top of the World with my producer Daniel Bengtson in his studio. It came from a conversation we had and a piano melody which grew into a song. The song deals with personal changes and fears, depression, getting older, and navigating societal expectations. We recorded the demo with only piano and a guitar and wanted to keep that sparseness in the final version and not overload it with production. I think we captured the sonic mood we we’re going for — and I think the song is a good introduction to my next chapter for the new album.” – Julia Logan
