Hailing from Los Angeles but now rooted in Berlin via a stint in Brooklyn, the indie folk artist Hayfitz, known for his ethereal “gentle folk” sound, has unveiled his second album, Everything Else. The album, released through Vienna-based SeaYou Records, showcases a fusion of folk and indie influences, with Curl as a standout track, marking the fourth and final single from the collection. The song delves into the complex emotions of Hayfitz, revolving around an unrequited queer love for his close friend and collaborator, Sam Cope. This poignant song encapsulates the persistent ache of these unspoken feelings, which surfaced each time they came together to create music. In a unique narrative of intertwined emotions and artistic collaboration, Hayfitz shares his vulnerable journey with listeners through this evocative track.

I knew that as soon as I admitted to Sam what it was all about, that it was no longer going to be just hypothetical. “It was a very dark internal chapter for me. But it had to happen one way or another as far as me telling him…” states Hayfitz.
