Fugue State, the collaborative project helmed by Northampton-based composer and producer Dan Langa, ventures into abstract, shape-shifting territory with So What Is There?. Built from manipulated studio recordings and a rotating cast of musicians, the track blurs the lines between ambient composition, chamber music, and fractured art-pop. The presence of Javanese vocalist Peni Candra Rini adds a haunting, human core to an otherwise deconstructed sonic landscape, where textures dissolve and reassemble in unpredictable ways.
Rooted in an almost obsessive studio process, the result feels less like a traditional song and more like a living, evolving sound sculpture.
