Award nominated composer Christof R Davis, recently unveiled his latest musical endeavor titled Housescapes. This remarkable album is a unique compilation of tracks that are constructed using field recordings of intriguing “found sounds” from Davis’ own home. Using a Tascam field recorder, he captured a diverse range of sounds, including the steady hum of the dishwasher, the rhythmic tapping of keyboard keys during email writing, and even the soothing purr of his cat. One of the standout tracks from the album is the captivating opener, Dishwasher Drones; Davis skillfully utilizes the low droning pedal of the dishwasher and combines it with the rhythmic pulse of the water blades, creating an immersive sonic foundation. Over this foundation, he explores and experiments with various layers of synthesizers, tape delays, and orchestral textures, resulting in an innovative and powerful blend of ambient music.
