Brooklyn’s alt/shoegaze rock band, Book/Spirit, recently released Meant to Be, a preview of their debut studio album set to drop in early 2024. Singer/guitarist Michael Susa originally conceived the song with a Joy Division vibe, but as the other band members, Pete Ferrari (vocals/guitar), Garrett Troy (drums), and Pierre Ratzki (guitar), added their touches, it evolved into something more expansive. The track starts energetically with a new wave flavor and takes an exciting turn with a melodic drop around the two-minute mark, culminating in a full-blown punk blast, in the vein of Hüsker Dü, past the 3.30-minute mark.
