Back in 2015 I discovered a horror film that is now one of my all-time favourite films. The film is “Spring“, the second feature film directed by Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson. It was very highly praised for good reason by none other than Guillermo del Toro, calling it one of the best horror films of the decade and the only Lovecraftian film that has blown him away.

Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson’s highly anticipated follow up “The Endless” screened to rave reviews at many festivals throughout 2017 and 2018. As with “Spring” and their first feature film “Resolution” it seems that “The Endless” is going to be inventive and original.

The premise of “The Endless” is that of two brothers, played by Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, who escaped a cult years previously and have now decided to go back. The film is a spin-off of sorts from their first feature film “Resolution“, with the two characters being seen very briefly in that film.

The Endless” seems from the trailer that Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson are going to deliver on the promise of their first two films. The  trailer shows some hauntingly dreamlike imagery that is beautifully breath-taking. Imagery that seems as if it will stick in the mind long after the film has finished, as is to be expected from a Moorhead & Benson film. The trailer is enigmatic enough to not seem to be full of spoilers. Although judging from the directors’ previous two films it will almost certainly have many surprises, and without a doubt be a refreshingly original film. It will also be interesting to see if Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson will be able to pull off playing the lead characters, judging by the trailer they certainly have.

The Endless” will be available for streaming from June, and Arrow Video UK are releasing it on Blu-Ray and DVD in July. “Resolution” is also included as part of the limited edition Blu-Ray release. This edition will be well worth adding to any film collection judging from Arrow Video’s previous limited edition releases. Well Go USA will be releasing it in the USA on Blu-Ray and DVD in June.

Having been more than impressed with “Resolution” and absolutely loving Spring I am really excited about “The Endless“. I really cannot recommend Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson’s first two films enough, films that every film fan and horror fan needs to add to their list of films to watch.

Aaron and Justin are two of the most exciting film-makers around at the moment. They are without a doubt a breath of fresh air to the horror genre.

Check out this intriguing trailer to find out why you should be excited about “The Endless“:
