Five fresh tunes that invaded our “sonic universe” will be presented every now and then with Instant Karma. Futhermore, we invented ‘The Karmo-meter’ for you. Ready? Go!
Who: Phantom Wilds
Phantom Wilds (Ron VanDon, Jeffrey Lance-guitar/vocals, Jordan Ryan-drums, and Jamie Bassett-bass) is a dream pop/post rock band from Lubbock, TX.
The track: A Phantom Wild
In a few words: Heavenly post rock melodies and dynamic progression with shoegaze outbursts. Phantom Wilds get ‘wild’ with the great cinematic experience of ‘A Phantom Wild’, Ready for this 8-minute trip? Well, not even if you “lift your skinny fists like antennas to heaven” will save you from this sentimental lava!
The Karmo-meter:
Who: Fresh Pelican
Fresh Pelican are Saul Blumberg (vox, bass), Andy Steingold (guitar) & Lorena Cachito (drums) and they play indie stuff!
The track: Fire Fire 6
In a few words: Ready for the coolest indie track for Summer 2019? then all you have to do is press the play button and get ready to be lost in the slacker indie pop universe of Fire Fire 6. Like a time capsule that will transfer you in the mid 90s, when we (at least the eldest ones) were still happy and were gazing at the sun not behind our “smartphones”….
The Karmo-meter:
Who: Maybird
Josh Netsky, Sam Snyder, Kurt Johnson and Adam Netsky come from Rochester, NY, are signed to Danger Mouse’s 30th Century Records and play a fusion of psychedelia, indie rock with evocative roots rock accents.
The track: The Damages
In a few words: What I like most about Maybird’s sublime track ‘The Damages’, is the ear-melting psychedelia which is mixed with flawless indie pop melodies, aided by the captivating vocal performance by singer/songwriter Josh Netsky. It’s his special accent that adds this little “extra herb” in this “spicy recipe” and has caused us ‘damages‘! Euphoric.
The Karmo-meter:
Who: Autosuggest
Autosuggest is the relentless alternative project from Sydney’s Alec Mallia combining blistering electronic rhythms with post-punk instrumentation and Mallia’s crooning vocals.
The track: Lose Me
In a few words: ‘Lose Me’ is possibly the ideal introduction in the claustrophobic universe of Autosuggest, accompanied with a great video directed by Thom Muir. If NIN ever played alternative, then this single would be their best one. Impressive ,distorted electronic rhythms and over-the-top production in this stylish alternative-electro banger!
The Karmo-meter:
Who: Fauvely
Fauvely is the project of Chicago-based singer-guitarist Sophie Brochu (Astrobrite, Videotape), who creates deeply personal dream-pop music.
The track: What The Living Do
In a few words: One of the most heartfelt vocal performances of 2019, is the almost fragile one by Fauvely’s Sophie Brochu on ‘What The Living Do’. Pure waves of emotion in this gentle mix of dream pop, indie rock and intense pop (yes it is very catchy and addictive!). Out on Diversion Records.
