Girlpool’s video for song ‘It Gets More Blue’ – Watch!

Philadelphia based folk-punk duo Girlpool have shared a music video for the release of their new track ‘It Gets More Blue’. The fuzzy, retro three minute clip features direction from Amalia Irons and a concept by Girlpool’s own bassist/vocalist Harmony Trividad. Trividad and her co-conspirator, guitarist/vocalist Cleo Tucker, are seen portraying a couple in the video, chilling in the grass, going for a walk, and ending up at tarot card parties, among other things. ‘It Gets More Blue’ is our second sampling for their upcoming sophomore album ‘Powerplant’, following March’s release of ‘123’, the video of which was directed by Nicholas Rattigan. ‘Powerplant’ has been described as “confront projections, despondency, apathy, romanticization, love, and heartbreak with a more devastating emotional pragmatism than before.” With Trividad adding, “As a society I feel that we perceive softness and vulnerability as traits that are ‘weak’, and people emotionally disconnect themselves in order to avoid going through everything they feel. I think what is most important right now is empathy, and in order to have empathy we must first feel what we, ourselves, feel.”
