Tkay Maidza – ‘You Sad’
About Tkay Maidza
If you could plant a phone, what sort of flower would bloom? Something radiant, right? – colorful, dynamic, and maybe a little sinister, too. In the vibrant clip for “You Sad,” the latest single from Tkay Maidza, the Zimbabwean-born, Australian-based singer and rapper reclines in a vivid blossom field overhead, even the clouds in the electric purple-blue sky take the shape of phones. It’s a modern hallucination, but there’s something awfully familiar about this dreamscape, too. If you’ve ever been haunted by unreturned text messages, and if you’ve ever desperately sought to communicate with somebody who won’t call you back, you know how the screen of your smartphone can swallow the sky. Those two and a half inches become your whole world.
Maidza knows all about obsessions, and intensity, and reveries, too. Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 2, her most recent project, is a shimmering daydream: eight tracks of luscious future-soul, propulsive dance music, playful hip-hop, and avant-garde synthpop, full of sudden left turns and unconventional sonic choices, ear candy, and delicious ambiance. It’s a continuation of her 2018 Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 1 project (a third volume will follow), which established Maidza as a fearlessly eclectic artist who’s equally comfortable with reggae, gospel, blues, electronic music, drill, trap, and genres and styles that don’t even have a name yet. If you’re looking for an artist right on the cutting edge of modern music, well, here you go.

Evening Elevator – ‘Sweet September’
About Evening Elevator
Evening Elevator is the songwriting and production team of Tim Segreto and Dub Sonata. True modernist visionaries, their music contains the best from all genres and is confined in none. Using everything from classical instruments to obsolescent electronic devices, their music is an entrancing dreamscape of symphony-size epics and eloquent lyrics.
Their solo efforts were released to critical acclaim from Rolling Stone, Complex, and The Miami Herald, and featured in motion picture scores and commercial campaigns for Adobe, Chevrolet, and Victoria’s Secret. While Segreto’s Populus debuted on KCRW’s nationally acclaimed radio show Morning Becomes Eclectic, Dub Sonata produced for the likes of Jidenna, Rhymefest, and Sage Francis, after releasing his own genre-blending Nights in Cuba LP. His strict attention to detail provides a perfect balance to Segreto’s untainted musical reverie.
Evening Elevator’s electro-acoustic hybrid is a feast for the senses, and the soul. With songs ranging from lighthearted and jubilant to melancholic and pensive, their emotionally stirring melodies and kaleidoscopic tones craft a mesmerizing journey of innocence, tragedy, and love.

Elizabeth Elle – ‘Victorious’
About Elizabeth Elle
Elizabeth Elle is a blind classical singer/songwriter hailing from the busy city of New York. Her inspiring story of overcoming the obstacles of her life is truthfully a tale woven to restore some faith in humanity and prove that, no matter the circumstances, we can all make a positive impact in the world around us.
She shared a part of her story with us; saying, “… I know the deep pain of feeling alone, worthless and abandoned. I was born blind. My birth mother left me in the streets of Ilsan South Korea when I was three years old. I remember that day which has left me with so many scars and questions. Unfortunately, it’s not a unique experience and it happens to a lot of disabled children in South Korea. I was picked up by the police and I spent ten months in an orphanage and was very lucky to be adopted and loved by the most extraordinary couple in the USA. They gave me a deep sense of worth and value. I can never thank them enough.
I grew up in an extraordinary family. Both of my parents are blind and my two brothers were visually impaired. My sister is autistic, blind and has severe mental retardation. She adds so much value to my life and I love her dearly. And then there is me, I am blind.
I have a job at a hospital in NYC. In my spare time I enjoy music. I want to use my music to assist orphans, people with disabilities and anyone living in difficult circumstances. That’s why I co-founded a non-profit organisation called TIMCA and started a community outreach project.
I’m a classical and opera trained singer, but I enjoy all genre’s of music. I prefer singing ballads and sing songs from various groups including the likes of Fleetwood Mac, the Bee Gees to Nirvana. Basically anything that I find challenging that will fit my voice. I sing in English, Spanish and Korean.”

Frank Ivy – ‘Deja Vu’
About Frank Ivy
Ivy’s writing process typically starts with building an instrumental, coming up with a rough melody, and then adding lyrics, which further shape the melody. The music inspires the direction of the narrative, and in this case, there must have been a feeling of Deja Vu in the room. The goal was to keep the lyrics simple and ambiguous in an attempt to preserve the song’s relevance. The approach here comes from the notion that History repeats itself, evoking a sense of Deja Vu. The idea that we can learn from the past seems to be lost at times, yet we see it played out over and over again.

Robert Jeffery – ‘Drive’ – Radio Edit
About Robert Jeffery
Robert spent his adolescence performing around New South Wales, winning awards in band comps and supporting acts like Jinja Safari and Ganggajang as a part of his high school band
An accident in 2013 saw him return to his home town to spend the next few years recovering, during which he began to learn the in-and-outs of home recording and started to write music as a solo artist.
For a few years kept his tracks for close friends and those who used to follow his band, until making his debut in 2019 with his single ‘Don’t Give Them Any Reaction’, shortly followed by ‘This Time’
Discontent with restricting himself to one genre, rather than working under an umbrella of them as he is used to, Robert returns in 2020 with a new music inspired by a whole bunch of new influences.
