Gaspar Sanz – ‘Come Home’

About Gaspar Sanz

After graduating a year apart and each making their own separate ways to Sydney in 2011, drummer Sammy Devenport (formerly of Tame Impala and Mink Mussel Creek) and vocalist Jimmy Bell reconnected, and started playing music together while pursuing acting careers.

What started off as a hobby in between acting gigs, started to get more serious with the addition of bass player Dom Coulton, who met Sammy through bartending, and other WAAPA alumni, guitarist Jesse Lawrence.

After playing in various incarnations, covering a wide array of musical genres ranging from pop to folk, the band settled on a sound, name and style which culminated in their self-titled debut EP in 2017.

Tracks from the EP, ‘On my Way’ and ‘Watch You Go,’ saw praise and spins from both triple j and triple j Unearthed, landing the band an artist spotlight and later a feature artist slot. During this time, Gaspar Sanz played sold out shows around Sydney with such acts as Philadelphia Grand Jury and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets.

In 2018, the band followed up with the release of ‘Scene Of The Crime’ and ‘I Swim’, which earned #1 on the indie charts and #3 on the overall charts at triple j Unearthed for three consecutive weeks.

After signing a record deal with Helium Records, the band have further honed their sound and released their latest EP ‘Meanderthal’ in April.

Aaron B. Thompson – ‘Santa Monica’

About Aaron B. Thompson

I was careless with my youth. I had a shallow understanding of what it meant to belong. My destructive behaviour lead to an addiction to alcohol by 25 and almost cost me everything. I have been in recovery for 3 years and I have music and love to thank for that. Songwriting began as a therapy to help me stay sober and work through all the skeletons, it has since become my career. I grew up on grunge and gangsta rap, was inspired by indie and pop music and entranced by folk. I idolize Nat King Cole, but was influenced by singers like Ben Gibbard, Chris Martin and Justin Vernon. There’s a YouTube link in my Link section to my recovery story. I hope that you take the time to watch it, but understand if you don’t. The music isn’t about me, it’s about reaching anyone who suffers from addiction or takes the recovery journey. I need your help to reach those people.

The Ragtag Roots – ‘Whiskey Rain’

About The Ragtag Roots

The Ragtag Roots formed in 2014. The rock band, from Zurich, Switzerland takes their baths in the basses, bask in the tubes of the amps and lets the drums bite where it itches.

Their music is influenced by 60’s rock&roll, blues -/punk rock and a touch of country, which is clearly visible in the songwriting. Bands such as AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jimi Hendrix are a few of their greatest influences and continue to form their unique style.

At a time where rock music is banned from the runway of the party people, the Ragtag Roots join the counter-demonstration.

One of the band members once said: „shit guys, our band has been around for longer than my longest relationship ever has! Maybe because we‘re allowed side projects“

On July 14th 2019, 5 years after their formation, the Ragtag Roots released their debut album Along the Way.

Comprised of guitarist/songwriter Jay Bonaparte and vocalist/keyboardist Michelle Opthof, the duo is set to release their latest EP, Lies Between Us in September 2019. It is the first of what will be a series of releases leading up to a full-length album, expected in 2020.

High Tropics – ‘You Never Made it Easy’

About High Tropics

Dubbed as “infectious garage pop” by Rolling Stone magazine, High Tropics is the moniker of Queensland based songwriter Josh Stewart and his band. Formed as an outlet to house songs outside of the now defunct garage rock outfit The Ninjas, Stewart’s DIY home recordings quickly caught the attention of esteemed US label Roll Call records, who put out the project’s first two singles in 2017.

Coming off a busy year that saw the band break out internationally with singles “You Never Made it Easy” and “Wait for You” – which amassed over half a million combined streams online – in September 2018, Stewart and gang were selected to represent Australia in the Project Aloft Star Asia competition, held in conjunction with Universal Music Group and Aloft Star hotels in Seoul, South Korea. The performance marked the band’s first international show and onscreen appearance.

Nsolo – ‘Recuerdos’

About Nsolo

I’m an LA-based Mexican artist who makes R&B music, which leans a little into some more alternative/electronic stuff at times. Some people say I sound a little bit like James Blake on certain records (so I’m def putting that in here haha), but I’m also influenced a lot by Maxwell and how he uses falsetto in his records. I used to record tracks in my car since I didn’t have studio space, but since moving, I am now currently recording from my bedroom most of the time.

Beck Pete – ‘Whiskey #4’

About Beck Pete

My name is Beck Pete. I am dedicated to love, feelings, self-awareness, and telling stories about those things. I am a muse-based writer, inspired by moments and people that make me feel a little extra alive. For the rest of my life, I just hope to make people feel less alone and more understood… Ok I lied. WHAT I REALLY WANT is to make cohesive art motivated from a real place that helps ease people into understanding that vulnerability and strength can only exist in tandem. Nice to meet you, can’t wait to show you my whole heart.
