CH|LD – ‘Cover Up’

About CH|LD

The artist-collaborative known as CH|LD, born in L.A and performed behind a single voice, creates a landscape of hazy, midnight dreams attempting to uncover just those parts of the self that have been forgotten but we all long to return to. A shot of cold night air within charting musical trends, CH|LD marries a gritty form of pop with elements of Hip Hop, Alternative, and Indie successfully creating a fresh hyper-breed of pop music genre—informally known as Experimental Pop. One gets satisfyingly lost as the lyrics and melodies provide some familiar guideposts throughout, but often lead to bold and provoking new territory with no obvious trail back. This discomforting lostness is exactly the territory CH|LD wants to us discover. These songs prick at the listener as familiarity and friction churn, finally exploding in an insatiable desire to relent and surrender to the places we avoid within ourselves, places which desperately crave realization and release. It is a tantalizing taste of what is to come from the universe of CH|LD.

Yon Ort – ‘Don’t Delay’

About Yon Ort

Yon Ort is songwriter and multi-instrumentalist J. Eric Wilson. Born on January 7th 1983 in rural Kentucky, he spent his childhood on a pig farm helping his family raise tobacco. He began singing in church and at family gatherings at a young age before his grandfather eventually bought him a classical guitar at a yard sale. This sparked his interest in songwriting which inevitably led to forming numerous bands while in high school and college.

Wilson moved an hour south to Nashville in 2005 and soon released an EP which resulted in his first record and publishing deal. He experimented with writing songs on Music Row but was mostly unable to identify with the commercial approach. In 2010 he transitioned into working as an organizer for the Obama Campaign and began playing with his friends in the local indie music scene. Their band would later become Wild Cub and Eric would go on to tour with them the next 3 years as their keyboardist. He immersed himself in synthesizers and electronic music and it grew into a quintessential part of his musical expression as they toured with the likes of Vampire Weekend, Broken Bells, and The 1975.
